COUNTY NEWSYQCA TrainingAgOvation4-H’ers who plan to show beef, bucket calves, swine,sheep, meat goats, dairy goats, poultry, or rabbits (notpet rabbits) at the Muscatine County Fair and/or theIowa State Fair must be YQCA certified.Calling all future entrepreneurs! Join the Muscatine4-H AgOvation team for 4-H’s twist on “SharkTank.” AgOvation is a competition where youth ingrades 7-11 work in teams of 2 to 5 to findsolutions to agricultural problems. The team willdevelop a project and create a presentation toshare their results, findings, and/or createdsolution/product. Teams will present their ideas atthe Iowa State Fair and the top three teams will winscholarships for post-secondary education.Contact Katrina at the Extension office to learnmore and join the team by January 29!YQCA instructor-led training sessions will be hosted onMonday, February 1st and Thursday, February 11that 6:30 p.m. at the Muscatine County Extension &Outreach office.4-H members may also take the training through theweb-based option at any time. The web-based trainingis 12 per member and the instructor-led training is 3per member. 4-H members who are 12 or 15 years oldcan also test out for the next three years. Theintermediate test out is 36 and the senior test out is 48.To register for a YQCA training go to, login with your4hOnline account information, and pay online.Instructions on how to register are here.Camp In A Bag!The two instructor-led training sessions are limited tonine participants each, so register soon! COUNTY NEWSMuscatine CountyMaster GardenerScholarshipMuscatine County Cattlemen’sAssociation ScholarshipThe Muscatine County Cattlemen’s AssociationScholarship is now accepting applications for two 1,000 scholarships. Applicant’s families must be acurrent member of the Cattlemen’s Association.Applications are due January 25. More informationhere.Muscatine County students graduating from highschool in 2021 and are planning on an Iowa college,university, or community college are eligible to applyfor this 500 scholarship. Applications are dueMarch 31, 2021. View the application here.Adventures at Home!“Adventures at Home!” is a new program withMuscatine County Extension & Outreach for youth in1st-3rd grade. Youth will receive a once-a-monthmailed activity packet with STEAM hands-onactivities. The program will run January 2021 to July2021 and is 20 per youth. More information andregistration forms can be found here.Beef ID’s in 4hOnlineFamilies who weighed-in cattle at the Beef Weigh-Inneed to enter animal data (weight, ear tag number,etc.) in 4hOnline by logging into your account. Instructions on how toenter information can be found here.Iowa 4-H Food DriveThank you to everyone who donated to the Iowa 4-HFood Drive Challenge! Muscatine County 4-Hdonated 321 items to the MCSA Food Pantry inMuscatine. In total, Iowa 4-H donated 21,771 items tofood pantries across the state.
